Disney’s Zootopia passes $1 billion worldwide at the Box Office

Disney’s Zootopia has already broken records and just crossed the $1 billion mark. The animated film is the second highest grossing original film only behind Avatar. In terms of animated film it is the second-biggest animated film behind only Frozen.

It now is Disney’s eleventh biggest movie and has become an instant Disney classic. Word of mouth and reviews helped fuel what became another unexpected win at the box office for Zootopia.

It now can hold claim to the highest ever three-day opening for Disney Animation and the biggest animated opening ever in the month of March. It remained in the top 10 domestically for 13 weeks. In China, Zootopia is the highest grossing animated film of all time and Disney’s biggest release ever there, while in Russia it is the second biggest industry release ever behind only Avatar.

Zootopia contributed to helping The Walt Disney Studios top $1 Billion in domestic ticket sales in just 128 Days. The animated film along with Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War are just two of the films that when combined with the slate of future films such as Finding Dory, Moana, and Star Wars: Rogue One, means the studio is going to have one epic year. 

“Zootopia” will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on June 7.
