Music Picks for the Week of May 31

Music Picks this week includes a lot of music from musicians out of England. Pop to ballads there was lot of great music I was listening to this week.

“All You Never Say” – Birdy

She won the music competition Open Mic UK in 2008, at the age of 12. She went on to have a hit number one album that has led to musical works being featured in such films as The Hunger Games and The Fault In Our Stars.

“Salt Skin” – Ellie Goulding

At the young age of 9 she began to learn the clarinet and later in life at 14 learned to play the guitar. That was also the same age that she started writing songs and entering competitions. She went to Kent university where after two years was spotted by Lily-White a talent manager who helped her in the production of her album Lights.

“Body Talk” – Foxes

Louisa Rose Allen or known as Foxes has had numerous top 20 hits and also appeared on Zedd’s hit “Clarity” She describes her music as experimental pop with influence such as Björk, and Kate Bush.

“Where Do Hearts Go” – Alexandra Burke

She is a winner of the fifth series of XFactor and stands as one of the most successful winners from the show second only to Leona Lewis. Music has been part of her life since being born as her mother was a band member of the R&B group Soul II Soul who had numerous numerate hits. She has appeared as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance and also returned to the XFactor as a guest judge and mentor.

“Hey You Beautiful” – Olly Murs

A runner up on the popular series singing series X Factor he rose to fame shortly after and was singed to Epic records. H has since released numerous records all of which have been well received by the public. He now appears on the XFactor as a co-presenter.
