The singer known as Prince has died at the age of 57, according to his publicist. This morning his body was discovered at his Paisely Park home/studio in Minnesota. The Carver County Sheriff’s department was on the scene this morning responding to a medical call. Officials at the scene relayed to reporters that there had been a death and were in the process of notifying the next of kin.
In recent weeks Prince has spent time in the hospital, as recent as this weekend in Illionis when his jet made an emergency landing. Representatives at the time told TMZ that the singer was suffering from a “bad bout of flu”. He then appeared the next day on stage performing a concert assuring fans that he was ok.
Prince born Prince Rogers Nelson rose to fame with such hits as Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain, and 1999 among many others. He is considered one of the best selling artist of all time with sales over 100 million records worldwide. He won seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
