Neon Trees in Concert in San Diego

Humphrey’s By The Bay is such a great venue to see Neon Trees in concert. In the summer of 2014 I had the chance to see them on the waters edge enjoying a beautiful San Diego sunset while jamming out to great music.

How The Group was Formed

Neon Trees is a pop group that was formed by two neigbors who were from Temecula just north of San Diego. The group added several members and formally formed the group Neon Trees while living in Provo, Utah. The setting of the LDS church in Utah is what members of the band credit as having helped them, as their beliefs on drugs and alcohol set the ground work for the success they have seen. The band which has released three albums thus far consists of four members Tyler Glenn, Chris Allen, Branden Campbell, and Elaine Bradley.

Faith and Music

During the concert Tyler Glenn spoke of his faith in combination with the fact that he had had recently come out in an issue of Rolling Stone. He spoke of the struggles that he felt growing up and why he ultimately decided to come out and how he is able to combine who he is with the faith that he believes.

Hit Songs

The band has had numerous hit songs including Animal and Everybody Talks which made it into the top 10 on the Billboard charts. Their songs have appeared in numerous television shows including Homeland and Glee as well as movies including American Reunion. The latest album Pop Psychology is based up on the struggles of Tyler Glenn and how he came to find his true self and be comfortable with himself.
