Major Security Changes Coming to Disneyland

Disneyland Security Changes
LOVELY LANDMARK -- Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland is the centerpiece of Fantasyland, and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. There are some big changes when it comes to security at the Disneyland Resort. A brand new security checkpoint will be opening this week, which will now make those wanting to visit Downtown Disney first go through a security check.

The new screening checkpoint is scheduled to begin this Thursday on the west side of the resort. If you are coming from the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure, the Downtown Disney parking lot, or the Disneyland Hotel you will be screened before reaching Downtown Disney or boarding the trams to the theme parks.

The changes are being made to help secure a larger area of the resort and to help ease the need for guest to be re-screened if they are wanting to go to the parks as well as Downtown Disney. Currently guest must go through bag check and metal detectors if hopping between the parks at Downtown Disney.

The resort is also expected to change up the screening process on the east side of the resort once the new parking garage is complete as well as a new pedestrian bridge over S. Harbor Blvd.
