Equality for Women

I want to live in a country where we respect women and that we treat them as equals. Women still are not treated as equals to men in the workplace, in society, or even in the church. Generations over generations we have been working to erase the past that have hampered women from being equals. I am positive about where the future will ultimately lead but we must all work to make things better for women.

Growing up I was taught by my mom and those teachers I grew up with to respect women. I have taken through life. Not only to respect women but to respect everyone.

I speak of these things right now because from what I have seen online with some Facebook friends and others it seems that we are continuing to work against women. In this particular case I am referring to Christine Blasey Ford and Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Friends online are spreading straight up lies on the issue without researching facts. This does no one any good.

We really need to set aside politics and learn to respect serious allegations. We shouldn’t take any sides we should only care about the truth. In this case there should be investigation into these allegations. These hearings are not an investigation of which currently the Republicans do not want to happen for political reasons. Frankly both sides are playing politics on this issue.

The bigger picture of things is why are Republicans and especially Republican women coming out in support of this possible behavior without all the facts.

There was a clip on CNN where women talked about rape allegations and sexual misconduct. Those women said that “Boys will be Boys”, “He was young back then… it was high school… since he has had a respectable life”.

I don’t understand how women and mothers can say such a thing and honestly it is very sad. There is no excuse anyone and especially women should give to excuse behavior. Excusing the behavior just because they think it is just teen boy behavior. This is NOT teen boy behavior.

We must do a better job. The thing is whether it is the Kavanaugh case or any other case we cannot just say it was a different time and generation or that its a boy thing.  We must stand up and let it be known that behavior of that kind is not proper.

If you did grow up in past generations and did things that now may be viewed as improper you have to realize that and own up to the behavior. Things change over time and that is a good thing especially when it is giving more rights to a group of people.

Ultimately It Comes Down to This

  • It was just locker room talk endorsing sexual assault.
  • Boys will be boys sexual predators if not taught better.
  • Men have urges to learn to control themselves.
  • Girls shouldn’t be so provocative sexually assaulted.
