Music Picks for the Week of July 20th

Its time for music picks for the week of July 20th. This week I focus on four musicians whose music I really loved listening to this past week.

Pharrell Williams – “Freedom”

Pharrell Williams is an 11 time grammy award winning musicians who has expanded his creative powers outside of the world of music into numerous ventures including entertainment, fashion, and art.

Williams was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia where he nurtured his musical talents in marching band and met his friend Chad Hugo at a summer band camp. They ultimately would form the group the Neptunes which kicked off Pharrell Willaims commercial musical career and success.

He has had great success with The Neptunes and his career producing music for such artist such as Brittney Spears. In 2010 he composed the soundtrack for the Universal Studios film Despicable Me and has also composed and produced music for the Academy Awards.

Freedom the latest single from Williams debuted exclusively on iTunes as part of the launch for Apple Music. It also was featured premonitory in ads for the new music service from the tech giant ahead of the massive musical launch of their latest service.

Foxes – Beauty Queen

Louisa Rose Allen or known as Foxes has had numerous top 20 hits and also appeared on Zedd’s hit “Clarity” She describes her music as experimental pop with influence such as Björk, and Kate Bush.

Natalia Kills – Trouble

Natalia Kills is an english actress and singer who can credit her career to music extraordinaire will.i.am who signer her to his label in 2008. She released her debut album a few years later and in 2013 released a second album.

She was born in Bradford, England and for a time attend the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Ultimately she withdrew from the school to pursue full time her musical career which was a good move on her part.

Kills music is one explores topics of inspiration and confession noting musical inspirations from the likes of Alanis Morissette, Freddie Mercury, and Prince.

Priyanka Chopra – I Can’t Make You Love Me

Priyanka Chopra is one of the highest paid Bollywood actors and winner of the 2000 Miss World pageant has hit it big with both her films and her music. All of the entertainment career stems from her winning Miss Worlds and she has taken that attention and chance and has run with it making a name for herself.

She has become one of the most sought after actresses in Bollywood and that caught the attention of ABC studios who recently signer her to a talent agreement and have cast her in their upcoming series Quantico which debuts this fall here in America on ABC.

Her music career heavily influenced by the Bollywood sound was a commercial success in India but however was unable to climb the charts in America.
