“Im Ready to Move On/ Wild Heart Reprise” – Bleachers

This indie act became known for their hit I wanna get better which was released at the beginning of 2014. They only have one album to their name but nearly everyone of their songs is recognizable.

Jack Antonoff previously of fun and other ventures has been around for years and knows what an audience wants to see and hear. When I attended their concert this year he engaged the audience in such a manner that everyone was in constant motion and singing the songs with them.

They even added in a cover of the Cranberries classic “Dreams”. They closed out their set with an amazing addition of the saxophone to the music ramping up the audience into a frenzy as the production concluded with confetti.

“Car Radio” – Twenty One Pilots

One of my fave new artists  I’ve discovered is the indie pop duo Twenty One Pilots. Most of their music is poetry based and combines electronic sounds with drums and piano. They are my favorite new discovery this week and I definitely will be listening to their other songs including their latest album that was released this year. According to the band members in interviews they have given they say that their love of making music is “to make people think”.

“Go Your Own Way” – Lissie

Go Your Own Way is a song from one of my favorite bands of all time Fleetwood Mac, which became the bands first top 10 hit in the United States. This time the song gets a twist from Lissie a folk artist who lives in California. Many of her songs have appeared in various television shows and Go Your Own Way, which appeared in the film Safe Haven. I love her version of this classic song and it’s one you’ll get addicted to quickly if you love the song hearing her unique soulful voice.

“Bridges” – Broods

This brother sister duo from New Zealand brings a refreshing voice to the world of music and was my favorite song from the past week. The siblings grew up in New Zealand and would travel with their parents in ABBA tribute band the two later went on to win a music competition but then decided to go to college. Georgia Knott went off to study music while her brother Caleb studied industrial design. They ultimately both dropped out and decided to pursue music as a duo known as Broods. Several of their songs have appeared on MTV’s Catfish and even on ABC’s Revenge.

“Girl Crush” – Little Big Town

Little Big Town has been around since 1998 and are no stranger to the world of country music. The group has one numerous awards and have had hit after hit, but their latest song Girl Crush is currently burning up the charts. The song stands at the top of the fan voted GAC countdown for three weeks running now. Its not your traditional country but instead a great mix of vocals from the long running band.

“Stiches” – Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes is one of my favorite new artists and has a great story of discovery. He was found in 2013 after amassing a following on Vine and catching the attention of record executives. I love when a talented artist like this get noticed because usually they are extremely musically talented in comparison with a lot of other mass marketed artists. He definitely is one to check out and watch as his musical career continues to develop.
